Note: UITS recommends that you use the Outlook address book (which is created automatically from information in your Contacts folder). Could someone please tell me where the location of my Outlook Address Book for Outlook is located. I am trying to export it to Cox. I put daicahamsdestli.ml files in the proper directory and clicked on Outlook I finally got my messages imported, but my address book is gone. It did.

If the Import and Export option is missing altogether, then you have to simply add it to the File menu. You can do this by clicking on View, then Toolbars and then Customize. On the Commands tab, click on File under categories.

Now just drag it onto the actual File menu and drop it. From the list, choose Export to a file and then click Next.

From the list, choose Personal Folder file. Click on Contacts since we want to export Outlook contacts only. If you have created other contact folders inside the main contact folder, be sure to check off the Include subfolders box.

Click Next and then choose the location for your backup file.

Make sure to browse to some other location as Microsoft defaults to a hidden folder. The Browse pop-up window opens.

Navigate to the correct location on your personal computer where you want to place this file for the eventual upload such as, the My Documents folder. Type in the name of the file for example, OutlookContactsUpload.

Be sure the file name ends in the. Click the OK button. The pop-up window closes and the file name displays in the field.

Click the Next button. The Export Contacts from the Contacts folder action checkbox displays in the window.

Step 2: 2. Click on “File” and select “import and Export…”

Otherwise, for Microsoft Outlook and later, you must map the field and values for contact names and email addresses to create them in a valid generic csv file: Click the Map Custom Fields button. Step 5: Shut down Outlook on both old and new machines.

Typically copying is done via a network connection, but burning your PST to a CD or DVD is also quite common and a good way to create a backup of the file at the same time. Be sure to reset the read-only attribute when you copy the file to your new machine.

Also copy the file containing your Inbox Rules if you created one earlier. Step 7: Fire up Outlook on your new machine. It should come up with your email, contacts, and calendar, all transferred from the old one.

Step 8: Finish configuring Outlook on the new machine. Particularly if you have Inbox Rules, this would be the time to import them and make sure they're working properly.

Step 9: Never use the Outlook on the old machine again. Doing so might cause some email to be downloaded into that old PST and if you're using your new machine to download email that's not where you want it.I'd like to simply have someone that is more sure of the process than me to tell me if that is the way it is.

Click Next and then choose the location for your backup file. In the left-hand menu, click on Advanced and then scroll down until you see Export.

Make sure to browse to some other location as Microsoft defaults to a hidden folder.

Not what you needed?

Click Email Address and then drag and drop it in the To box. Step 1: Install Outlook on your new machine.

You can use Outlook itself to find the location of the file. It should come up with your email, contacts, and calendar, all transferred from the old one. On the Commands tab, click on File under categories. Email Address now displays in Field and Mapped from.
